My musical journey
exploring a creative world i knew nothing about
Creativity is the freedom to express yourself in so many ways and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
How I Got Here
Ralph Huey Jr
I was Born in Hamilton Ohio and lived in Fairfield through my childhood and early adult life. I currently live in Milford Ohio. I’m beginning my exploration in music and live performing. My music started out with the few songs I could play and sing. I’m now evolving into the songs I enjoy and like to share with my new family and friends. My hope is to create the fun in music and give the energy I love to feel myself at a show.
Music is an amazing word to me now. It is a world I never dreamed of being a part of. Music has always burned a passion deep in me that haunted my life through childhood as well as working in industry while raising my family. I tried to grow in musical art several times in my life but fell down for countless reasons. I enjoy so many types of artistic expressions. However music pays joy in both directions, from me to the listeners and back to me when I feel the music return.
It was when my daughter was finishing up her senior year of high school and asked me to play in a duet recital with her that was my deepest wake up call. I could not achieve the task and set forth to never fail again should that opportunity posed itself again. My second huge push to grow, was when I met a Grammy nominated man,Tom Wurth, who truly made me think. At 50 I told him I was too old to begin this journey and should have started it before I was 10. His demeanor was that of a man who would stand for no Bullcrap. He simply told me to stop making excuses for failure and start growing. He opened his door and told me he would gladly help as long as I wasn’t a quitter. I assured him I was more determined than any. Here I am over 15 years later and he and I are past friendship and now are family.
I am at a spot where I can and will grow into who I want to be musically. I am retired from the industry working life and feel like I am getting the chance of a lifetime. If anyone ever tells me they are too old to grow or start a new, I have a whole list of examples to shut them down and put them to task. I have been playing out in public occasionally the last couple years and now finding myself playing more and more. Keeping a calendar and filling it up with places I am playing almost every weekend. Just like this web page, I am learning everything like a first grader. Contact me through this site or see me at an event. I am charged up and ready to share my story, my music and my experience.
